CICM Responsible Care Awards 2006

Hip Hip Hooray !….. We did it again. We participated in Chemical Industry Council Of Malaysia (CICM) Responsible Care Award 2006 and won 3 gold awards for Employee Health & Safety Code, Pollution Prevention Code and Product Stewardship Code respectively. Apart from that, we also won 3 Merits for Distribution Safety Code, Community Awareness & Emergency Response Code and Process Safety Code. The Awards were given away by Dato’ Seri Azmi Khalid, our Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and received by Dr. Thomas Ruehl our Director of Marketing & Logistics, at KL Hilton on 10 September 2007.

Responsible Care is one of the CICM flagship activities. The voluntary initiative was launched in Malaysia by CICM in 1994. The CICM Responsible Care Awards are organised on an annual basis to promote greater awareness and encourage chemical companies in Malaysia to continuously improve their safety, health and environment performance through Responsible Care. The Awards also aim to provide recognition to Responsible Care signatories that have made most progress in implementing the Six Codes of Management Practices, which focus on specific areas of chemical research, manufacturing, transportation, employee health and safety and environmental protection. 

BASF PETRONAS Chemicals commitment to Responsible Care is reflected through the recognition given to the company to date, such as winning the inaugural Corporate Award for Best Overall Winner in the year 2003 and also picking up various corporate awards for the Six Codes of Management Practices (Gold & Silver awards) in the year 2003, 2004 and 2005 CICM Responsible Care Awards.
